Goings on in Melbourne

With Spring hitting with full force, Lyds and I have been out and about enjoying the change in weather. Recently we had our niece Maddi's 8th b'day. She's becoming quite the little lady !!

With Mad's on her b'day

We had a magnificent sunny weekend a fortnight ago so I took Lyds on a walk of Melbourne's city parks. We managed a nice 2 hour loop that took in - The Fitzroy Gardens, MCG Parklands, the Botanical Gardens, the Tan and the Domain. Lyds of course is looking magnificent with her growing belly.

On a whim we decided to go to the races last Saturday. It was Caulfield Guineas day which is one of the big race days of the Spring Carnival. Melbourne goes absolutely crazy for the races with at least 3 of the biggest days getting crowds well in excess of 120,000 people at the course. Guineas day is a good one to go to because it's still early enough in the calendar that the crowds aren't as big, but all the best horses are competing in their warm up runs to the richer races a month from now.

It was great to give Lyds a little taste of what's to come next month. We had a few little bets and managed to back a few winners, but of course we had plenty of losers in there as well. Still, a great day.

...and finally, on Sunday I ran in my 3rd Marathon on a day that nudged 30 degrees. It was touch and go for the last 3 weeks as I've been nursing an achillies injury. Thankfully it came up just in time for the race. It was a tough, tough, tough run, but the important thing is that I got there in the end !! As always I had my number 1 fan (Lyds) racing around the course to cheer me along. Her support, and of course my head-to-toe 2XU gear got me over the line.

Crossing the line....

It looks like Melbourne is suiting you both.
Congrats on the marathon!
Wish you could've been in Colorado Springs hoisting the cup with us! Carn' the Vancouver Cougars.
Cheers,
Rob
