2 Weddings and an Engagement Party
Well it was yet another short visit, but it was an action packed one. Yes, Lyds and I took a quick 10 day trip back to Australia to catch up with as many family and friends as possible.
We arrived on the Friday morning and pretty well had just enough time for a quick hello with my Mum&Dad before we headed off to the wedding of our friend's Bobby and Jules. We became friends with Bobby and Jules back in Vancouver when I played footy with Bobby. We were actually there the night they first got together (about 3 years ago) - at a James Bond themed party.

Not only was it great to see them married, but a lot of our old Vancouver crew that have moved back to Melbourne, were are the wedding as well, so it was a great catch up for everyone. We spent the next day at Bobby's parents place who threw a BBQ for everyone.

Lyds and Shelly
Given that Lyds and I are getting married in Canada, obviously quite a few people can't make it, so my mum and my sister put on a fantastic engagement party for us on the Sunday. Thankfully a lot of our Aussie friends were able to make it and it was a magnificant day all round. A lot of people still hadn't met Lydia, so it was good for her to finally put some names to faces.

The rest of the week was spent trying to just relax, spend as much time with the family and also to get Lyds used to the idea of moving to Melbourne. Thankfully the weather complied and we had some great little outings. We also scouted out a few places that we might want to live when we finally finish our travels and arrive home.

A beautiful day for lunch down at the Docklands
Our visit was timed superbly with the start of the AFL season. Unfortunately the Pies played on the Saturday at the exact time that Cath due was to get married. Despite being a member I still hadn't been to the newly renovated MCG, so Lyds and I went to watch the Saints v Melbourne game on the Friday night instead. We met up with an old Vancouver friend - Craig who was in town for the day from Sydney, so we took him with us. While we were in the stands we also freakishly bumped into another ex-Vancouver footy player - Josh.

Good to be back at the "G"
Saturday was yet another highlight of our trip with Cath and Simon's wedding. In my 9 years of travelling, noone has kept in as good a touch with me as Cath, so there was no way I was missing her big day. As you can see, she looked stunning (...yes so were you Simon - you big hunk). It was a fantastic night and a great way to finish our time. An added bonus of the day was that the gap between the wedding and the reception was perfectly time to allow me to race home and watch the delayed telecast of the Pies game (a sensational come from behind win).
