2XU Woman's Fitness Launch

With much fanfare 2XU launched its woman's fitness range at one of our stores in Melburne last night. Our women's range designer Kristin has put out a fantastic range of woman's fitness clothing to which Lyds can happily attest to. Believe me - she recently used up half my yearly clothing allowance buying almost the entire range!!

Our new Media Manager Belinda has been working hard drumming up local media support and managed to get a fair bit of press and the odd local celebrity there as well. By the time the show started there we literally people spilling out the door. It almost worked to our detriment as by the time we arrived, some random guests ahd stolen the seats I had reserved for Lyds and our good friends - Cath, Fi and Dave. Thankfully I had the inside word that a few of the celeb's that were confirmed to attend weren't coming, so the guys managed to snaffle their seats just before the show started.

The girls at work produced a fantastic little runway show with a lot of the gear modeled by a number of our female staff, many of whom are budding and developing state and junior athletes themselves.

The crowd itself contained quite a few athletes there that we sponsor. Lyds and Cath were sitting next to James Tomkins who is a 5 time Olympian and 3 time Gold Medalist (he also carried the Aussie flag into the Bird Cage at the recent Beijing Olympics). The girls said he was really down to earth guy who actually introduced himself to Cath and Lyds before the show (to which Cath apparently replied "yeah I know who you are").

All up a great night, with Lyds sending me to work this morning with an order for the 1-2 items in the range she doesn't yet have....oh dear.

Here's a gallery of selected pics from the night...

Goings on in Melbourne

With Spring hitting with full force, Lyds and I have been out and about enjoying the change in weather. Recently we had our niece Maddi's 8th b'day. She's becoming quite the little lady !!

With Mad's on her b'day

We had a magnificent sunny weekend a fortnight ago so I took Lyds on a walk of Melbourne's city parks. We managed a nice 2 hour loop that took in - The Fitzroy Gardens, MCG Parklands, the Botanical Gardens, the Tan and the Domain. Lyds of course is looking magnificent with her growing belly.

On a whim we decided to go to the races last Saturday. It was Caulfield Guineas day which is one of the big race days of the Spring Carnival. Melbourne goes absolutely crazy for the races with at least 3 of the biggest days getting crowds well in excess of 120,000 people at the course. Guineas day is a good one to go to because it's still early enough in the calendar that the crowds aren't as big, but all the best horses are competing in their warm up runs to the richer races a month from now.

It was great to give Lyds a little taste of what's to come next month. We had a few little bets and managed to back a few winners, but of course we had plenty of losers in there as well. Still, a great day.

...and finally, on Sunday I ran in my 3rd Marathon on a day that nudged 30 degrees. It was touch and go for the last 3 weeks as I've been nursing an achillies injury. Thankfully it came up just in time for the race. It was a tough, tough, tough run, but the important thing is that I got there in the end !! As always I had my number 1 fan (Lyds) racing around the course to cheer me along. Her support, and of course my head-to-toe 2XU gear got me over the line.

Crossing the line....
